Verapamil once was my most effective blood pressure medication (not the slow release version). I took it three times a day for at least ten years. I didn't have any problems with coughing on Verapamil, but we are all different.
I finally switched over to Coreg. For me, Coreg is even more effective and it doesn't seem to interact with my diet or give me any other problems.
I didn't take the "er" extended release version of Verapamil.
Just wanted to pass on to you the experience that I had.
Good luck finding a solution.
