Re: TSH question a little OT

Thanks Midwest. I searched and searched and just couldn't find when it was first used. I know Drs used to diagnose by symptoms before the TSH test became available. I figured you would come up with the answer if anyone could.

I'm questioning this because doctors are wondering if I was ever tested in the first place, or just put on meds. I do remember having all the symptoms of hypo and feeling better after being put on Synthroid but I was also very sick from other things back then so I don't know what blood work was done. It was 1975....how can they expect me to remember!!!!!
I'm doing so poorly with muscle weakness, hypoglycemia,my straight hair turned kinky curly...so many other problems. TSH totally suppressed but free #'s are low to mid range. Pit looks OK. Adrenals look OK Everything looks OK but thyroid. I have all the symptoms of being hypo again since menopause and I'm a mess. So now they wonder if I've been over-medicated even though I never felt any symptoms of feeling over-medicated.
That's why I thought could I have possibly never been hypo??? I'm at wits end here
Thanks again.
