No insult was intended. I am sorry for your loss, NVD. Starting out with a newborn baby can be scary enough. Fearing SIDS is just one more heavy burden for a new mom, and like you have said, maybe it's something one can not even prevent. So why stress and scare a new mom? Using common sense is still a logical thing to do when caring for a baby. But there are never any guarantees that that will keep a baby perfectly safe and healthy. You just do your best.
