The hospital bed is on it's lowest setting..thank goodness...I believe that is why she didn't get as injured as she possibly could have.
They (the professionals) said guard rails, so we put guard rails, but what you all are saying makes much more sense. She never had rails before and she only gets up to go the bathroom. That is what was going on the night when she fell. An alarm would have saved that, as the alarm would have sounded and my father would have known motion was taking place.
Without the obstacle of getting around a rail....she would just maneuver herself up. Who knows, but to prevent another fall......
I will have to check into those under mattress pads today, too. Thanks.
