| Re: coughing up phlegm
Coughing up phlegm and constant throat clearing are common symptoms of acid reflux and can indicate that you have GERD or a less common form of acid reflux called LPR (Laryngopharyngeal Reflux) that often has no other symptoms.
The best way to treat either form of reflux is with acid reducing medications like Zantac 150 (twice a day) or PrilosecOTC (once daily). Both are available without a prescription and there are inexpensive generic versions of both available at any drug or grocery store.
It may take a couple of weeks before you see a noticeable improvement so don't give up after just a few days.
