My understanding is that the results of the lip biopsy are very very different from any sores or swelling you might be able to see on the surface (in other words, your sores may or may not be the result of Sjogrens and the only way to know for sure is to have the biopsy done). Most of the books on Sjogrens Syndrome explain this very well (much better than I can). One thing I can say is that having the lip biopsy done is WELL worth the two minutes it takes to have it done in order to know for certain if you have Sjogrens.
