In re-reading your post my question is "how do you know she had dementia?"

Was she diagnosed. Does she do stuff such as leave pots on stove and not realize it, or put a pot on the stove without anything in it?

Would she know what to do if a medical emergency OR if there was a fire?

Or is it just old-age forgetfulness and not true blue dementia?

If she is in fact with dementia? then someone needs to get a power of attorney and medical power of attorney for her.
