stomach question after esophageal cancer surgery

My dad was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer back in 2007. He had recontruction surgery (they replaced esophagus with part of the the colon) and had chemotherapy for six months so far as been ok for over a year (and its been 2 years since surgery) but now he has a stomach problem where he seems to get full and bloated really fast after only eating a small meal.

A piece of his stomach was removed but he was eating well and in good portions for a long time. Its only the past few months he's had this problem, which I should mention he feels a small bubble in his stomach that he can actually feel with his hands buts its not always there. Just when he feels full.

Its no surprise that he has alot of gas and burps alot. He's had a swallowing test and nothing showed up and so far the Docters have just recommended Over the Counter gas pills. They dont really work either.

We do have an appointment with the Gastrologist (spelling?) like a week from now but I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of what could be wrong. Could there be something wrong with the surgery? I wouldnt think so, its been over 2 years now. Thanks for any thoughts.
