My own experience: Recently, during allergy season, I developed a cough with phlegm, rattling in my chest especially when I layed down and a sinus headache. I went to the doctor and he gave me antibiotics and mucinex. It helped alot but didn't totally get rid of it. So, I went back and he gave me another type of antibiotic and it knocked it out. 2 different types of antibiotics back to back really did the trick with me.

What I want to say is this...stay on top of it with your doc until it is all gone, you will feel much better.
