I want to know more about sacroiliac joint dysfunction.
I was in an accident two years ago . The driver was a convicted killer on parole. I stopped to help a woman who was screaming for help on the side of the road.I called 911 at a near by gas station, while awaiting the police the woman jumped in my car after running from her psycho husband.I let her stay in my car for safety.
After about three mins. the guy came from out of nowhere and slammed into the side of my car I had no time to react other than to brace myself . the guy was going appr. 35-40mph. The impact knocked my car side ways a few feet .I was wearing my seat belt and had my hands on the wheel,my foot was slammed down on the brake my body was turned to the left facing away from the side of impact. My car was almost t-boned .After running from the guy in my car I called 911 again ,and met them behind a local supermarket.I was really scared and shaken up.I did not feel any pain immediately
I talked to the officers from inside my car because my door was bent shut and I had a passenger in front and one other in back besides the lady I was helping. After an hour or so the officer escorted me home because the guy had not been found yet and I was afraid of a further attack. After getting out of car on the passengers side and standing up to walk I felt the pain in my back and hip area,my leg was a little numb but I was not in enough pain at that point to go to the ER.I had a trip scheduled for the next morning it was late and I was exhausted so I showered and went to bed.I awoke an hour later because of the pain and numbness in my back and leg .I had had back pain before and new the drill see the Dr. and make an appnt. with the Chiro . It was Easter so I put it off for the day .I was seen on Mon.morning by the DR.
who examined me and said oh you're banged up a little and you have a sprained neck and back .He gave me a presciption for a mild pain reliever and a muscle relaxer.I had been that morning by the Chiro. and tested he had said basically the same thing as the Dr.,I was adjusted and sent home I followed this treatment for 9 months, with very little improvement other than short term relief.I saw an orthepedic surgeon in Feb. and had a Ct scan done and the Dr. reffered me for Pt.I was not able to get the PT.due to lack of $$ from not being able too work. My other Drs. agreed to see me at first with deffered payments and small down payments. My ct scan was neg. for herniated disk, but revealed Lordosis,I had L234 scoliosis already and I'm not sure if thats what the results meant or not.My scoliosos was mild and had not given me much trouble in the past.I was extremely deppressed after getting the same diagnososis
from that Dr. and no help for the pain.I had a big disagreement with ,my chiro over him telling me to basically get used to it my pain would not get any better.I was not going to live in my bed the rest of my life,I was 26 I had an son to care for .I tried a cotisone shot,I had an adverse reaction wheezing and skin redness and rash.It caused alot of initial pain that lasted 4or5 days and did not help at all.I got desperate and began to research the net and used the sites where you can put in symptoms.I had pain over the right side of my low back and sacrum that radiated into my hip,and butt region, back of right leg pain/numbness on the right that extended to the back of my knee ,but some times would go to the heel and cause a burning sensation I was not able to do much of anything>I could not walk ,sit or stand for long I couln't sleep I was so down I lost ten lbs in 4 days I began to realize I had a fairly common injury that was being misdiagnosed .So I called a different Chiro who was an extremity specialist hoping he could help.Initially I felt better within few few treatment I had less pain,I began to come less often and could hold an adjustment for as long as 7-10 days. After 4 months he gave me the you are as good as your gonna get speech and sent me home his diagnosis was about the same, soft tissue damage .What the heck is that? That tells me nothing other than I hurt and nothing helps for long .I believe after much research that I have SIJ dysfunction
I think that I either damaged the hamstring when I braked so hard in the accident, and /or my sacroiliac was forced out of place due to the impact slamming me sideways and all my body weight was slung over to the right . I am moderatley familiar with basic anatomy and med. terminology from college. The SIJ is a synovial joint just like your shoulder or knee and it is my educated opinion the muscles and ligaments that support the structure were damaged in the wreck .I metioned this to my Dr. on a visit and his answer was I can't agree or help so..... what am I supposed to do the Drs. who have treated me have misdiagnosed and treated me.I don't have$ for more expensive Dr. visits to DR.s who are not familar with this problem. How can I get this Diagnosed and treated .I still have pain if I am in any way active other than to do my usual activitie,.which are minimal .I can't work full time anymore .I struggle doing every day things and exercise is out of the question even swimming hurts .If anyone has advice other than the normal taking meds.or streching techniques.I'd really appreciate the advice.
