Re: looking4relief....

Hi Cindy!
Oh my dear friend, you truly went threw the ringer!
I have to tell you, most hosp. are like that, understaffed I had a real crappy experience too!
I came up to my room after 12hrs. in recovery. It was around 11:30 at night. after parking my bed in its spot they walked out and no one came to check on me, or give me the silly little buzzer for 6 hours!
I was stuck with my shoulder and face jammed into the rail! I could not move. I had a drain coming out of my back. and a slice about 7 inches across my belly. I just kept crying and pushing the pump button!
When the nurse finnaly came in she said "why are you crying, you have been pushing that button all night"
Uh...Maybe I am still in pain! DUH!
I begged her to help me move, I was so uncomfortable, she said "I dont know if you are suposed to move, so wait for pt or a dr. they should be in, in about an hour or two"
with that she walked out! after waiting for at least an hour, pt came in and helped me out...thank god!
so later after her shift was over a new nurse came in my room, I asked her if those were bugs on the floor, or is the morphine making me see things moving?
she said " Oh YES! those are bugs, we are having a problem, you know you should write a letter to the board for us. they tend to listen to patient complaints"
Are you kidding me!!
Needless to say I had my dr. take me off the pump and sign me out! I was home in less than 48 hours from my surgery!
I also can tell you a story of the last 24 hours, but this is getting long, and I am getting to the point I need to move
so I will save it for another time! bet you cant wait <IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/gabby.gif">
hugs to ya

hope for pain free moments
