It does sound like possible bursitis and/or tendonitis. Use of the crutches could be exasperating some inflammation in your shoulder and bicep. I found great relief from a cortizone shot in my rotator cuff. In fact, my ortho used that as a diagnostic.

Do you have any problems with range of motion? Do you have any pain or problems when you raise your arm to the side, in front or above your head?

You might want to alternate ide with the ice to help with inflammation.
