Elizabeth, I feel badly for you that you're going through such a difficult time. I agree that a short acting med doesn't work well for long acting pain.
If I were you I'd start a pain journal if I didn't already have one. Doctors rely on data to make decisions. The info in the pain journal will provide the doctors with the data that they need to make better decisions for you. I've kept a pain journal, as have many other folks. I make entries three or four times per day. I note the date, time, pain rating on a scale of 1-10, meds, other treatment modalities, and description of pain. I note the type of pain and anything I do that either helps the pain or makes it worse.
