Once you have gallbladder disease you have it for life. So, yes you will have to have it removed at some point.

There is a school of thought that when patients have had complications such as yours, that removing it sooner is better than waiting for the next set of complications.

In the short term, there are medicines such as actigall/ursodiol that can at least in the short term dissolve sludge and stones. It is expensive, but can buy you time if necessary.
