Also, an HPV infection does not always result in signs and symptoms. There are documented cases of people who were infected with HPV prior to the current relationship they are in but had not signs or symptoms, then experienced a big illness where their immune system became compromised and suddenly developed symptoms of HPV, without ever having strayed from the relationship.
Sometimes HPV infections can also resolve on their own.
