Re: What if you can't take the meds after removal?

I am not sensitive to thyroid meds, but could never increase mine except in very minute amounts. I would have to get my prescription in 1/4 grain (15 mcg) and cut them in fourths and increase by only 3 3/4 mcg at a time. I would make another increase in the same amt. every 10 days to 2 wks. If I did not do it this way, my bp and heartrate would increase and I would feel hyper. I have been able to increase up to 2 3/4 gr. this way.

I was reading the book "Solved.....The Riddle of Illness" and the doc that wrote the book on thyroid issues tells about how to increase thyroid meds for even the most sensitive people. He said that virtually 100% of these patients
can experience a remarkable recovery when placed on a water-based solution of thyroid hormone. ( I would guess it would be specially compounded per drs.' instruction. When they are placed on this and it is gradually increased over time, most of them can soon tolerate the more traditional pill form of medication for optimal health. This info is found in the For Drs. Only section at the end of book. I am taking Westhroid now. If it is ever reformulated I will go to Erfa.

Hope this can help you and make you feel better about you wife's surgery.
