I've never done south beach diet but I've read about it a little. It sounds to me like you're having some withdrawal symptoms from eliminating the carbs and sugar. Isn't the first 2 weeks and then you slowly introduce fruits back and then eventually you take in some carbs like bread? Your body is trying to adjust to not having stuff you've been eating your whole life so it's not unusual that you would have those problems.
The main reason why I never tried south beach is because I didn't want to give up fruit. Not even for a day, much less 2-3 weeks. And well, bread too I guess. But I've got friends who do it and seem to love this diet so, to each his own I guess!
