When you have a dark dull eardrum, it means infection in the middle ear, but the inner ear can be affected too (labrynthitis). Penicillin isn't the best antibiotic for ear infections, so you probably still have it and I would see another Dr. and let him know that PCN didn't work. If the dizziness is true vertigo (spinning sensation), some meclizine OTC will help until the infection clears and the vertigo goes away. It decreases sensitivity in the inner ear, like for motion sickness, and will make you more comfortable.
