Thank you both for your replies. You've both echoed what I had thought.

It's shrinking down, but still there to a small degree. At this point, I'm assuming that a bug had a field day with me!

When it had not gone down in a reasonable amount of time, I did become concerned due to not being a stranger to the sun in my younger years. For some reason, when young, we often seem to think we're invincible.
