Hi Ann, I'm sorry you haven't gotten answers so far. Have you looked at the Foot threads? There might be some more ideas there too.

I have arthritis in my feet, though it doesn't seem to be so bad as yours. Have you had blood work to see if there are inflammatory markers? Have you been able to see a rheumatologist?

I had my big toe joint fused because it was bone on bone, and causing a lot of pain. Drugs didn't touch it at all, and those topical pain relievers were a joke. I found wrapping my foot with a warm Magic Bag (bag with buckwheat hulls) was about the only thing that gave me relief. Of course, good shoes with lots of support, and keeping my feet warm in general helped. I have had orthotics that were helpful as well.
