It looks like this is your first encounter with this condition. I see this was your first post, welcome! You will find tons of helpful info from all of the wonderful people here. I am very sorry to hear about your tmj pain. It is a very uncomfortable condition.
I understand exactly where you are coming from. When I was your age (18) I got hit in the side of my jaw very hard and two weeks later while sitting in class felt a strange position change within my jaw and had the most intense headache of my life. I thought I was going to die right then and there. Took 3 advil and was slightly better later on that day. It has been nothing short of a struggle going back and forth from doctors ever since, I am now 24 (25 in less than a week).
Would you mind telling us a little bit more about your pain?
How did it begin? Have you ever injured your jaw? Where is the pain located? In what part of the day does it hurt the most? Any symptoms or additional info will be helpful here. Are you looking into any doctors in your area? What medicines are you now taking to try and aleviate your pain?
I would love to help you out if I can, and offer you support. Just remember, we are here and we understand the pain you feel. You will get through this. Eat soft foods, use moist heat often, and most importantly stay calm.
