New pain after recent root canal and crown
About a month and a half ago I got two root canals (upper back molars right next to each other.) I got the crowns put on a couple weeks later, so that means I've had them on for about a month.
They started out a little sore, but slowly that was going away and I could eventually eat on that side with just a little discomfort. The furthest back tooth (#2) was taking a little longer to get comfortable.
Just last night while I was eating something relatively soft, I noticed quite a pain in the back molar. It is certainly a lot different than it ever was since the crowns were put on. It's sore when I bite down on anything, and sensitive to hot and cold liquids. Even contact with my inner lip when I'm talking causes pain.
I went to the dentist and the root canal specialist who did the root canals looked at them. I got x-rays, anti-inflammitories, and pain killers. She said it might be a bruised tooth, or possibly needs to be drilled and cleaned out. And to wait for a couple months.
I'm not too certain I can wait for a couple months. How would I know if the tooth or root is cracked? The pain started immediately last night when I was eating, and has been the same for almost 24 hours now.
Any ideas what might be going on? I can't really even chew too much on the opposite side, since that will still cause the affected tooth to hit the ones below it. It was easier before the crowns were even put on!
