Hi MN, Welcome to healthboards! I think that you should be glad gastro wants to do scope. Thats scary but im sure he wants to check everything while in there.My husb had an area @ the top of his trachea that was enlarged by the acid, ENT had checked him with nasal-larynx scope & found nothing. My friend has trouble breathing so she has seen 2 regular internal medicine drs & 4 ENT's with gerd as diagnosis. We researched LPR & found great info, like LSN, laryngosensory neuropathy. But, during an EGD, the dr wont go through vocal cords but may find cause of problem & fix it. That would be great as my friend cant find one dr that will even acknowledge LPR exists.
