Re: Gasping for air just before sleep

Nelsonb24, I had this same experience several yrs ago. VERY scAry. Please know I am not diagnosing you. Just sharing my experience and giving you another rock to look under. My gasping for air ended when I had a surgery called Nissen Fundoplication. it is a stomach surgery and was not very painful. As it turns out I had a weak esophagus sphincter, just as I was falling into deep sleep my stomach contents would shoot up and try to drown me. U don't even have to have symptoms of heartburn to have this happen. You might want to read up on this and discuss it with your dr. I still have to sleep at a slant but the scary problem is completely gone now. Sounds crazy, but sometimes it helps to have more ideas. I wish you the best of luck.
