Ladies, one thing I learned the hard way while going from NWB to PWB to FWB (and if you already know this, forgive me)...as you progress, take some time every day to "warm up". Start with 2 crutches. Once you can handle using only one crutch, still start with a few minutes of using 2. Then when you get to FWB, walk with one crutch for a few minutes. I didn't do it that way, just picked up where I had left off previously and it was much more difficult. I think it's a combo of muscle memory, stability and security (as in security blanket).
Also, if you go into an Aircast brace after the boot, make sure you try it on before you need it. I had a friend pick mine up from the doctor 2 weeks ago. I'll be ready for it next week but found out yesterday that it's too small and needs to be reordered.
