Sorry to hear you are having this problem - it was my biggest worry before I started the journey (due to similar reports as yours from my Dad years ago) my doctors and nurses were very sympathetic and supplied me with thin prelubricated do it yourself (self administered) catheters which are simple and painless to insert and withdraw and completely effective.
