Re: Arthritis in foot & ankle Need advice
Ann, last fall I had pain in both feet after a weekend of lots of walking. It felt like someone had hit my feet with a hammer. xrays show arthritis, of course., after years of flat feet. I could not even walk or stand.. ..until I got custom orthotics AND New Balance shoes that correct pronation. IF I wear my "real" shoes the pain comes back. So, as hard as it is to wear athletic shoes all the time....because they are, well, ugly....thatīs what I do. I am still astonished sometimes that one style of shoes can allow me to be pain free.
Oh, and for the initial flare up I put ice on both feet three times a day, it took four days but really did get rid of the inflammation. Plus you really need to stay off your feet as much as possible until things calm down. So..with orthotics and the right shoes there is the possibility of eliminating pain. I hope this is helpful.
As for neck pain...I had pain and spasms for years. Misdiagnosed until I had an mri showing 2 herniated discs. Not saying you have that, but to me an mri is the only way they can make a correct diagnosis.
Hope you feel better soon, keep us posted. Linda
