For men I have read to never eat less than 1500 calories. It is harder to count calories if you eat out a lot. There are lists you can find that show the calories of specific items or restaurant. If you think you are only eating 1500 calories and in fact eating 3000 calories, it will not work. It is also true the calories should not be from junk foods but healthy foods. Exercise helps some but not as much as people think it does.
