neurological testing??

Brief history: My daughter was adopted at birth (brought her home at 8 days).
From the beginning she banged her head to go to sleep-doc says that's normal for some kids. She is 15!!! and still bangs her head every night! She also has trouble sleeping.

For the past 12 yrs. I have fought with school district and had testing--She is considered 'at risk for failure' but no IEP. Written accommodations are ignored.

She had a dyslexia tutor for two years and was helped a great deal. School did a dysexia 'screening' and said she is not dyslexic, even tho an outside psychologist hired by the school said she has indicators of dyslexia.

I am at a crossroads--have an appointment with a neurologist this week, but we are self-pay (health share) so have to pay up front. He doesn't do dyslexia testing. I wonder if I should use that money to pay $1,000 for dyslexia test, even tho I'm not sure school will accept it.

Does anyone have experience with a correlation between head banging and dyslexia? Daughter is sweet, well adjusted and smart.

Thanks!!
Debbi
