Since I also have arthritis of the neck and hands I can tell you that walking is excellent, but weight lifting can be an aggravation at least with my neck and wrists and hands. Tai Chi is gentle but Yoga and their stretches can be trouble if you are not in shape to begin with, I know that by experience. Anything gentle on the joints is always helpful. I have mild arthritis in the back, feet and hips also and sometimes walking on the treadmil for a long period causes some discomfort so I switch to the elipitical machines to finish off. So no heavy weights try 2lb barbells if you want and see what you are able to do with comfort. I can use the 2 lb hand barbells at times but not many repetitions.
