how to get an evaluation for an abusive adult to another adult

Hi does anyone know how to get a psyche evaluation for an abusive adult neighbor who abuses another adult neighbor who has no way to leave the abuser whatsoever. Also are there other ways to prove is abusing someone?

Hello sjb,

It would be difficult to get a psyche evaluation for someone who isn't your immediate family, unless you make a report of abuse to your local precinct.

I would go a step further and call the child abuse hotline and inquire about adult services, stating the exact situation.I am sure they will direct you accordingly.

If there are bruises on the victim, that would go far in proving abuse because verbal abuse is difficult to prove;especially if the person denies it to the authorities out of fear.

Respectfully
Phoenix

Re: how to get an evaluation for an abusive adult to another adult

Hello sjb,

Another thing to consider is speaking to any of their relatives on this(if you have any phone numbers).

I know there's children's services and senior abuse hotlines.

One thing you ask is that the conversation with anyone be kept confidential,as you don't want the effort to end up(possibly) in a negative confrontation initiated on their behalf.

Respectfully
Phoenix

Calling the police and making a report would be the first step, it would likely need to come from the "victim" though. You could also call social services and see what advice they could give you, they're usually pretty knowledgeable regarding abuse situations.

Take care,

Kat

Re: how to get an evaluation for an abusive adult to another adult

Hi thanks I may try to record voices to get proof of verbal abuse. However it is difficult to prove who has done it and furthermore court cases usually throw it out because recordings are not admissable as far as I know for evidence. It has already been reported to police but because it is difficult to prove nothing can be done. There are no obvious bruises or marks at this time and even if there were it is also difficult to prove how it got there.

You might try contacting your local Social Services offices and see if they know of an agency that can help. Although most agencies are going to want to start with a police report. The neighbor (victim) should call the police out and file a report, regardless of what they think...that way the paper trail is started.
