Sore throat - Acid Reflux / GERD Message Board

Sometimes when i get a sore throat it feels like its only on the right side of my throat. Does any one else just get this? A drink of water gets rid of the sore throat so I know I dont have a sore throat from a cold. Often when i wake up in the morning i have a sore throat, a mild one, sometimes just by swallowing a lot the sore throat will go away. Think the acid is just on the surface, causing the sore throat and that liquids wash it away?

Hi there yes i get this i just asked a question about it if you could just get symptoms on one side im not sure im waiting for a reply

does it look red and raw the throat area mine does

I get the sore throat quite often, and it bothers me more on the left side. My ENT recently diagnosed me with LPR and TMJ. The combination of both are contributing to the throat and neck pain. I take prescription Pepcid for the LPR (which doesn't seem to help much) and he also told me to take two tablespoons of maalox just before I go to bed at night to help the morning sore throat.

I have bad GERD and my throat can get INTENSELY red - so bad I went to a throat dr. What helps me the most to squeeze 1/4 of a fresh lemon into 1 cup water in a.m. when 1st wake up - don't eat for 20 min. - helps lessen acid. Dairy makes throat MUCH worse too in my case.

I get a sore throat when my GERD is really bad then I get laryngitus ( i know thats not spelled right ) All caused by stomach acid. ENT said stay on meds GI but me on and watch the foods you eat especially at bedtime.
