| Re: Is it Possible
Hi Blondy. Yeah, I also have GERD and LPR. We've won the lottery on this one. I get the chest pains from the GERD as well as the sore throat from LPR. When I bend over, sit in the wrong position, or twist the wrong way, I can feel the acid come up into my throat and sometimes my nose! As far as I can figure, and I got this from reading - not from the docs in their 5 minute marathon with me - that we have a weak lower sphincter as well as a weak upper sphincter. I believe the acid can get into bronchial tubes causing asthmatic symptoms as well as the nasal passages, check this with your ent. From many of the threads, it seems the only way to get rid of difficult LPR is with double doses of ppis for about 6 months, while regulard GERD can be cleared up on single daily doses. Again, this is the info I've gotten mostly from other sufferers but it is consistent info. HOpe this helps! Jen
