No GERD suffer should take NSAIDS (drugs like Vollteril and Ibuprofen) as they can wreak havoc on the stomachs linning. Vioxx was a possible option in that type of class but of cause that's off the market. Celebrex is a similar drug that could be used for shorterm relief on doctors advice, prefferebly with a PPI to ensure stomach protection.
Aspirn is another NO-NO, but Acetamin (paractamol) is not to bad on the stomach and Opiate painkillers are also ok for the stomach, although they form a stuurdy valve back behind
