Anyone else had this...at whits end - Acid Reflux / GERD Message Board

I have been dealing with what all the docs think is GERD. I had a scoping and barrium swallow last november for burning stomach and all was well.

I would have heartburn every once in a while but nothing to bad.

Around March or April of this year I started to have the lump feeling in the throat. The doc said it must be reflux or lpr since all the tets came back negitive last fall.

I now have what I call a tired tongue as well as what look like blisters and redness on the back and side of my throat. Also seem to have ear pain as well.

I went to an ENT and he said all looked well. I asked about the blisters in my throat and he said everything looked fine. I also seem to have some swollen lymphs in the side of my neck but the ENT and GP said they were as small as a pea and ment nothing.

I finally asked my doc if there was anything else I could do so he ordered a CT scan of the neck so I would feel better.(results not back yet)

Has anyone else had the redness in the throat or swollen lymphs from reflux?

Hi

I have LPR and I have the redness at the back of the throat. It is like red blisters, not technically blisters, but red bumps.

Aren't red bumps typical at the very back of the tongue or or they always associated w/LPR? What are usual symptoms of LPR? I am now wondering if I have it? I know that I have a hiatal hernia and icky sick feeling a lot of the day. Does one have GERD with it?

This is exactly why I got on here this morning. I have some of the same symptoms: aching back of throat, neck and ear pain and a general sick feeling. I'm with you but don't know what it is or what to do.

Earlene,

We all have larger papillae tastebuds at the back of the tongue and some people have larger ones than others. In LPR these become inflammed and larger and redder than would normally be the case. Ocassionally they may have the appearance of a raised white head on them which many people including myself confuse with oral thrush. It seems to be an inflammed tastebud with a plaque coating which comes from the PND / mucous at the back of the throat and bacteria on the tongue itself. I am awaiting surgery to correct a hiatus hernia and loose sphincter so yes there is most definately an association with LPR and its symptoms.
