GERD pillows/wedges - Acid Reflux / GERD Message Board

I know sleeping on two pillows does not help, but I do not want to invest in one of those wedges if they do not work. So, I was wondering for those GERD sufferers, have you used one of those wedge pillows and do they work?

I had similar problems. I tried piling pillows but that only helped until the pillows collapsed. Then I bought a wedge pillow and it did help but caused me some lower back pain. Finally I ended up buying an adjustable bed. Very expensive but it solved my problems. I go to sleep with my head elevated slightly and when my GERD wakes me up I simply raise the head of the bed with the press of a button.
I paid about $20 for my wedge pillow and I use it when I travel. It is a life saver when I am on the road.

i have 2 hospital beds one for me one for my husband put togther they make a king bed. i think the are much cheaper than the adjustable's if you look around. they take twin mattress this bed had helped me more time's than i can count.

I agree, for GERD one does not need all the whistles and bells that come with an adjustable bed. Any bed that will allow you to adjust height of the head of the bed will do. However, make sure your mattress is suited to tolerate the adjustments.

My Mom uses the wedge pillow and it helps very much. She bought it for about $30. at Bad, Bath & Beyond.

I tried one, but it is uncomfortable, so do not use it. I don't seem to get typical heartburn or anything coming up at night.
