You know what I do? Because of my mucus, the pills get stuck in my throat, so I open up the Prevacid and spill them into some yogourt and then eat it right away. It's just as effective, you just have to eat it right away or whatever you dump it in will start to decompose it.
The only thing I can think of to help you with your dry throat is to nourish it with some kind of soft, food, that's high in moisture (like yogourt, applesauce). I'm thinking that might help the dryness at least short term, and then you might be able to eat something.
I take an herb called Slippery Elm, from a suggestion off the GERD board, and it cuts the mucus in my throat, and it seems to help me. It's supposed to sooth the mucus membranes in your throat. The ones in your throat are probably damaged, so if they could soothed, maybe your dryness would go away.
