Stomach Ultrasound - Acid Reflux / GERD Message Board

Was anyone given a stomach/abdomen ultrasound to help diagnose their stomach problems? I'm just so frustrated trying to get into see a GI specialist and primary care wants me to get an ultrasound. Would they be able to see an ulcer from that type of film?

I had to have a stomach ultrasound. Also a small bowel follow through. They made me drink barium and then x-rayed me. You could see the reflux happening right on their screen! I think it's just something you have to do to satisfy insurance. I do believe they will be able to see an ulcer with that test though if you have one. Good Luck!

Thaks for your reply. As it turned out my doctor wanted the ultrasound to be able to see if I was having a problem with my liver, pancreas, or gall bladder but the blood tests came back negative so I didn't have the ultrasound.
