Missed One Dose of Aciphex - Acid Reflux / GERD Message Board

I didn't take the Aciphex last night because I thought the doctor said to skip it because of blood tests today. I got mixed up with the instructions and wasn't. Anyways, when I woke up I had such bad nausea and that was even before I ate anything. Has anyone else has an experience like this with stopping a PPI? I then took the Aciphex and ate breakfast and was back to my usual burning, upset stomach.

I stopped taking Aciphex last week becauase it was making me feel worse. After being off for a few days, my reflux is actually better than when I was on it. My doctor swithed me to Protonix but I'm not starting it until after I have a sonogram on Thursday to rule out pancreas/spleen problems (since the meds didn't work).

Personally, I think these drugs do a number on your system even though they might work on the reflux. When you go off, I think your body has to get back to normal. That is just my opinion, no doctor has ever agreed with me. I think I'm also sensitive to meds in general though.

How long have you been taking the Aciphex? I took it for 3 weeks before giving up. Maybe you can try a different med. Good luck!

I've been taking it for 6 weeks now but just stopped taking a medication 7 days ago that was probably responsible for causing my stomach problems and making it worse even on Aciphex. Maybe I'll get some relief sometime soon I hope.
