Does reflux happen out of nowhere and without prior digestion problems??

I have a very very big problem that started SUDDENLY without any prior symptoms !!!

Since 5 years;

Everymorning at 9 AM, I drink one glass of water with 1 tablespoon of
Chlorophylle.

Breakfast: Vitamin-C, Vit-F, Vit-O, Vit-B, Calcium, Glucosamine
Lunch: Vit-F, Lecithin, Vit-B, Calcium,
Dinner: Emu oil, Vit- O, Vit-B, Calcium, Glucosamine

*** Then, on February 20, 2006, I started taking 3-4 drops of Grapefruit seed extract everyday in a glass of water. ***

My big problems started on March 17, 2006 when I went to bed I started
to hear very loud gurgling, growling noises in my belly and I felt this
liquid inside my body bubbling up towards my throat, it kept me up all night bewildered, scared, worried, concerned and stressed out because of it ...

I changed my diet a year and a half ago (a healthier one ... except I eat too much peanutbutter but it's 100% NATURAL)... and have been taking the same supplements since the past 5 years ...
EVERYTHING IS EXACTLY THE SAME FOR THE PAST 18 MONTHS I WOULD SAY.

The only thing I did DIFFERENT was that I started to take Grapefruit
seed extract ...
Could this have cause so much problems in only 3 weeks ????
I need some serious advice from a Naturopath please !!!!!!
I have never had problems with my digestion before ... NEVER !!!
I want to understand what has happened to me ???

What should I do now ??
It's been 9 days of this torture and problems with my digestion ... I eat half of what I used to ... for fear of making the problems worst ...

and everynight the liquid comes up from my belly to my throat and leaves
a very acid taste in my mouth ... it's very unpleasant.
I have to sleep with three pillows since this started to happen ...

The thing is that I don't have any pain really ... but especially after I eat ... ALOT of belching, burping, passing gas ... and LOUD BELLY NOISES... it is HORRIBLE ... and one more IMPORTANT thing is that everytime I swallow lets say water, it's as if it goes down in GULPS ... MAKING A STRANGE NOISE LIKE A FROG IN WATER!!!... very strange sensation ...

I am 42 years old and in great shape, I don't know what happened ??
I REALLY NEED SOME HELP AND ADVICE

Has this happened to anybody else ALL OF A SUDDEN ONE NIGHT AND OUT OF NOWHERE?????

Thank-you so much ... I hope to hear from people that have the same concerns, help, advice , anything ...

Re: Does reflux happen out of nowhere and without prior digestion problems??

Yes, this can happen out of nowhere. It has been building up to this point and then it happened. There is a first time for everything and this was it with your reflux problems.

You are taking a lot of supplements and it maybe that the grapefruit seed extract was the crowning blow.

Do you take supplements on a full stomach or on an empty stomach?

Sounds like your body is rebelling and needs rest from some of the supplements.

I had to go off of several supplements a year ago, body just could not handle it anymore. Just too much of the good things.

Re: Does reflux happen out of nowhere and without prior digestion problems??

In the past we were told to take supplements, especially antioxidants for better health. They now have done extensive studies and are finding out all those supplements can in fact cause more problems than they help. Even antioxidants are considered to not be good now. Just think how much money some of us spent taking all the antioxidats we could for better health.....grrrrr! So, to answer your question, no, supplements are not always good for you, a balanced diet, exercise, restful sleep is better.

I went to the orthopedic doctor recently and asked him questions regarding bones, calcium, fluoride, etc. He said everything they were taught to do in the past has now been determined not to be the right thing. He says they are now telling them they have been doing it wrong.

Yes, I did go to my internist, he was of little help, doctors are not trained in supplements, etc. I had restless leg syndrome and I had to figure out what was causing it. My husband was not able to take Vitamin E, made him have nervous feeling, so he suggested it might be Vitamin E causing the restless legs. I stopped the Vitamin E and in a couple weeks my legs settled down and I have not had the problem since (has been 3 years now). Told my doctor and he said he was going to check with his other patients with restless legs, that my experience might be of help to them.

Most multi-vitamins in the past contained more than 5,000 IU Vitamin A and I found out by omitting the multi-vitamin and only taking the B-Complex I felt better. Tried taking vitamins with Vitamin A in it again and did not feel good. I tinkered with on again and off taking anything with Vitamin A and discovered it was in fact Vitamin A causing the problem. My body had reached it's tolerance of Vitamin A. The only reason I take B-Complex is because I am diabetic and cannot eat the fortified cereal and breads, my diet is deficinet in B vitamins.

Yes, I had acid-reflux off and on for the past few years, but, after taking Actonel for my bones, the Actonel damaged my esophagus and stomach. Thought it was o.k. now but off and on have to go back on Prevacid again. I have been reading acid-reflux is a long term and possibly permanent condition. You can have some acid reflux off and on for a long time before it becomes chronic. Acid-reflux must be treated, however, medication for acid-reflux has side effects too. Prevacid can cause anemia.

You would be wise to back off of so many supplements, let your body go natural and see if things improve for you. My body rebelled and yours may be doing the same.
