swollen lymph nodes (again)

i've had swollen lymph nodes on my neck for about a year and a half. a couple others on this forum, i found out, have had similar problems. i just wanted to see if any others are having it now or if those who were having it have gotten any better/worse. i ask because i'm still a little worried about the lymph nodes and have recently been itching like crazy which is one symptom of lymphoma. so hearing from others with this problem who have GERD or LPR would be a bit of a relief. i think the itching could be something else and have been to the doctor about it, but the treatments he's given me haven't worked so i'm starting to wonder.

Re: swollen lymph nodes (again)

Hi am wondering where you live?? Do you have fevers, muscle aches, knee pain, bran fog ect...??? There has got to be a reason for the swollen lymph nodes. They are trying to keep something at bay...I had the acid reflux and wound up havng Lyme Disease...just a thought...

Good health and Good Luck!!

Re: swollen lymph nodes (again)

i live in WV
nah, i don't think i have any of those symptoms. my guess is the lymph nodes could be swollen from irritation in that area. i mean my throat has been blistered for 2 1/2 years from my lpr.

Re: swollen lymph nodes (again)

Hey there...I've got swollen glands too. They are buggin me out

They started after 2 months of Protonix.....then to Aciphex and now Generic Prilosec.

So I don't really know if it's from LPR (my throat is red with white patches) or the meds. I get headaches also.

The swelling seems to be in my salivary glands; under my chin like pellets and the other salivary glands.

Don't know if doctor's think of this as a side-effect...only patients think so. The pharma companies don't.

Re: swollen lymph nodes (again)

Hey gnz, I still have mine under my chin as well. It has been over a year now. I first felt mine after a month of being on generic prilosec but I am not sure if they were there before then or not. I stopped the prilosec for some time but my heartburn came back so now I take nexium.

I have ask my general doctor about them many times and he says he is not concerned about them. I finally talked him into sending me to an ENT who also does not seem concerned. I'm really not sure what to think.

I do have alot of aches and pains as well but I have no idea if or how they are related. It such is tough to live life with an unknown like this hanging over my head!!!

Re: swollen lymph nodes (again)

at least i'm not alone in this...
what always worried me when i first noticed them (i'm not too worried now and never really even think about it til this itching thing) is that on the lymphoma sites it always said that cancerous lymph nodes were fixed and couldn't be moved around. well, that's how the one right under my chin is. then right next to that one, touching that one even, is another one that i can move a round a little bit. just slightly. then a little further down towards my adam's apple is another smaller one that moves around a lot - i mean it feels disgusting actually when it moves under my finger...

but i know what you mean about having it hanging over your head. i've got the lymph nodes and the gerd in general over my head cause i've yet to have an endoscopy and check for anything serious going on in there. i've been told as well that i should have my larnyx scoped to check for damage. since it's right there on the other side of your adam's apple. i know i read on another board someone with lpr that got their's scoped and they'd found some polyps they had to have removed.

i haven't even done anything in regards to my acid reflux lately. pretty much just learned to live with it, but i suppose i should go have an andoscopy, since my ph test and my last GI claimed i had no reflux... i think that's when i just said "screw it" and gave up trying to get it cured. i quit taking my nexium too and see no difference at all.

oh, and i get headaches a lot too, but i doubt it's related to any of this. not since i don't even take the nexium anymore.

Re: swollen lymph nodes (again)

oh, tyboyz, do you have LPR or just GERD? i would think only people with LPR would get enough irritation in the neck area to cause this. i have both tho, so i dunno...

Re: swollen lymph nodes (again)

I have also had swollen lymph nodes in my neck for 1 1/2 years. I have one under my jaw on the right & one under my chin & sometimes they itch too. I have been diagnosed with LPR by an ENT & I take Nexium. I had my tonsils removed about a year ago & thought that would help the lymph nodes, but it didn't. It did give me some relief from the difficulty swallowing though, which was my biggest irritation. I was tested for Lyme disease & bunch of others as well, all negative. I have had a lot of dental problems recently as well, which I think could be the cause of my swollen lymph nodes. I think my dental problems were a result of acid refluxing into my mouth at night while I slept. Oh, & I also have tons of headaches too. Needless to say, it's been a long year and a half & I'm to the point where I just ignore the lymph nodes now. I've been to too many doctors/specialists & I just can't afford to keep having all these tests done. Besides, I think they are starting to think I'm a hypochondriac or something. By the way, my ENT said he is not concerned about the swollen lymph nodes either. He said they may be permanently swollen from a previous infection. Sounds kinda weird to me. Sometimes I wish I could just have them removed & then sent off for biopsy to confirm what's really going on. Best of luck to you & hopefully we will all figure this out soon.

Question Re: swollen lymph nodes (again)

Just out of curiosity. Does anyone know if swollen lymph nodes are evaluated during an endoscopy? Even though I had an endoscopy, I am still baffled as to what they check for and what they don't. Anyone?

Re: swollen lymph nodes (again)

I am concerned about my swollen lymph nodes too...second night this week I have them on the back of my head, left side....they used to happen behind my ears...this has only happened before when I was very stressed, but I haven't been stressed lately. Well, I could be stressed, but in a different way...I haven't been sleeping well for over a week, so I know that is a stressor on the body. But this is part of why I can't sleep. Anyone have any clues to the causes (swollen lymph nodes)? I have LPR, btw.

Re: swollen lymph nodes (again)

I have LPR too and Ive posted about the swollen lymphnodes as well. I really think my sinuses causes mine. I have a couple on the back of my head and one behind my ear and a few in my neck but its worse on the left side. I get the itchiness ALOT too. They have been swollen for months now! I have extreme post nasal drip and sinus pain/pressure, But my sinus pain.pressure is always on the left side or just worse than the right side. Sometimes ill get tender places on the left side of my chest above my breast or in my breast[lymphnodes maybe?]. The nodes really stress my out too and I cant help but worry so I just want to let all of you know that youre not alone.

As far as what to do about them, I dont know but I think I need to get my sinuses under control to get them to go down or go away.

Re: swollen lymph nodes (again)

kellir - i get the swollen nodes or tenderness on my chest, as well as armpits sometimes. I think it's from the body fighting against something.

Have you found anything to help your sinuses or PND? Claritin-D helped with mine, but now I'm experimenting with my diet to see if I can pinpoint any triggers. Aside from food, I think the weather plays a big part too.

Re: swollen lymph nodes (again)

Hey Winter, Thanks for your reply Yes I think it would have to be fighting SOMETHING who knows....
Yes I take claritan and it helps a little with the PND and sinuses.

You sound just like me Winter, how long have you have LPR? Are you on any meds? My problem is that I LOVE food and EAT ANYTHING I want so I dont try to eat healthier or anthing, I just eat anything I want like I always have. SO Im going to try and limit my diet ALOT, if I do then I know I would feel tons better. Im gonna go to the store tomorrow and get a bunch of healthy stuff to eat and make etc. Im also gonna buy that book, Breaking The Vicious Cycle. Have you tried it? Take Care, Kelli.

Re: swollen lymph nodes (again)

I first found this board exactly a year ago when searching about swollen lymph nodes in the neck. Mine actually feel like the salivary glands though. It's been a year now and they still come and go and drive me nuts trying to find a trigger. Can't figure it out. Just strangely began last Sept and has been happening ever since. The itching all over also drives me crazy. These things seems to come in waves where the itching, swelling, feverishness, etc all happen at the same time for a few days, go away and then return within a few days/weeks. I think it could be an autoimmune issue or a latent virus. Saw several ENT's last year, was scoped, etc. No clue. Sorry to hear so many others have been dealing with similar issues for so long.
