A friend of mine has been diagnosed with acid reflux and takes Nexium 2x/day and has for about 1 1/2 years. Just a few weeks ago she developed chest pain which occurs about 3x/wk. She stays on the strict diet, and takes the Nexium. Do chest pains mean her condition is getting worse? She's being checked by a Cardiologist and having a stess test this week. What do you all do for the chest pain? Do you take pain medication or medication given to patients truly having chest pain from heart problems?

I am not sure what kind of pain she's having, and of course it is always wise to chceck it out, but I can say for me, I have had a little pain on right side of chest that only lasts a few seconds, and comes and goes..now since increasing my meds to 40 mg a day, I barely notice it..I have not been to Dr for that, and most would say I am crazy not to, but it seeemd to all start when the acid junk started in MAy, so at this point, I believe they are connected.

Thanks for your response. I'm not sure how much pain she's in or how long it lasts. She's elderly so it is a good idea that she's getting a Cardiologist to check her out.
