Nexium - Acid Reflux / GERD Message Board

My doctor wants me to stop taking Nexium for two weeks before my appointment with him. I am afraid that the gerd symptoms will come back. He wants to make sure I do not have any permanent damage, and if the symptoms come back I more then likely have some damage. I do not want to have all those tests. I have a problem with anxiety when I have to have tests. My question is would it be OK for use an OTC pill if needed only in these next two weeks.

Oh Molly

I am in the same boat as you. I too am having my first GI appt. on the 9th and I am so scared of being scoped. Its not the procedure itself its just the fear of what they will find.

I don't understand why your doc would want you to stop meds before the scope. He can tell from that if there is permanent damage

Thats what I am afraid of also what then will find. This isn't the GI doctor is my family physician. He will send me to the GI doctor I am sure. I had colonscopy 21/2 years ago they didn't find anything he said I could go 10 years. With my insurance I have to have a referral to a specialist. I keep hoping that I will feel fine without Nexium.
