Aciphex question

I've been on aciphex for a month and a half now for what the doctor described as "too much acid" I have been having nausea problems and it seemed to stop the vommiting so I keep taking it hoping to keep the acid down. anyone know if aciphex can cause your tongue to turn white? 4 days after I began taking aciphex my tongue turned white, and a got a sour taste in my mouth. now its been a few weeks and i want to know if the aciphex is to blame. please let me know! thanks

Re: Aciphex question

Hi John...when I was on Aciphex my tongue turned white and it almost felt as though it was swollen. I kept on biting my tongue and my mouth was always dry. The sour taste might be the Aciphex, but it might just be the GERD too, that is a pretty common symptom. I ended up going off of the Aciphex (the symptoms went away) and now I do Nexium 40mg in the AM and 150mg of Zantac in the PM. Good Luck to you!

Re: Aciphex question

Hey, thanks for the info. I thought the sour taste could be from the reflux too, but it never happened untill after I started aciphex. It's encouraging to hear that my tongue could clear up once i'm off this stuff.
Thanks!

Re: Aciphex question

I have been on Aciphex for close to five years, twice a day, one in the a.m. and one before bed. I have no choice, don't think I will ever get off of it, as the opening from the esophagus to the stomach is always open, and acid can splash up into the esophagus. I have never had the white tongue you describe, so don't know if you can blame it on the drug or not. Until reflux is well-controlled, it can produce symptoms like the white tongue and sour taste. Good luck with your problem.
