| Re: Long term effects of PPI use
s'nick,
I have low stomach acid, and I thought I had acid reflux. A chiropractor figured it out after I gave up on my regular Doc. Anyway, I have to take a pharmecutical grade multivitamin plus Betain-HCL(acid) and enzymes, as well as Probiotics (acidophillus etc). Its a bit of a pain, but my digestion is about 95% normal and I never get heartburn. If I run out of Metagest(BetainHCL), I take a shot or 2 of lemon juice.
The vitamins I take (called Multigenics) are from Metagenics as well. I have tried stuff from the vitamin store but its crap, never works as well.
IF you think you have low acid, buy a bottle (online) of Metagest from Metagenics, its like $22. 1 pill in the middle or after your meal will work wonders. If it causes any burning sensation, then a rolaids will fix that. My wife does not have low acid, but she takes it with big or fatty meals because it really helps her. I have 12 employees in a small business, whenever anyone complains about heartburn, I give them a metagest and they are cured!
Prior to this solution, I was so sick, I had the runs for 3 months and I was in bed for 3 weeks. It was horrible, I was so weak I was sure I would die. Don't let the low stomach acid allow bugs to infect the rest of your body. Also, if you have low acid I can almost guarantee you will need probiotics. Again, I used Metagenics probiotics. Geeze, I should sell their products!! But who has time?
