Buttermilk....

Has anyone used buttermilk to help neutralize stomach acid?

I stopped taking Prevacid recently and decided to try buttermilk with each meal. It seems to be working, do not have a need for Tums or Rolaids.

Would like to hear from others who have stopped Prevacid or other same type meds for acid reflux.

I took Prevacid for 1 1/2 years and the latest report about such meds made me stop and think about finding something less harmful to control stomach acid.

Re: Buttermilk....

In the USA buttermilk is sold in grocery stores.

Years ago buttermilk was the byproduct from making butter. These days commercial buttermilk we buy at the grocery store is made by adding a lactic acid bacteria culture to skim or non-fat milk. The milk is then fermented to make modern buttermilk.
