Acid Reflux in the lungs? - Acid Reflux / GERD Message Board

The other day I woke from a dead sleep almost choking on something and soon after developed a deep bronchitis type cough. I was not getting sick or feeling sick, and it was like I had pnuemonia with no other symptoms. The doctor said I got the acid from reflux in my lungs, that it is common, and 90% of people with asthma really have GERD. So she tells me to just keep taking the Nexium and offers no other support. I explained the nexium stopped working and my attacks got worse after a month on it, but she just said keep taking it.

Also, the chest cough is still here and may have turned into an infection.

I am very discouraged. I took the nexium for a month and had no attacks and then got even worse attacks, so I stopped taking it and manage the GERD with my diet and have had no issues. Now THIS lung thing..... I wasn't even having an attck when it happened.

What can I do? I am so upset, and the doctors just WON'T listen or help me.....

Hi same goes here.. last night I feel like I am having asthma attack... but then usually when I have asthma I have weezing but last night I dont... just plain discomfort in the lungs when breathing deeply... I also said this to my GI and just asked me ontinue the PPIS my stomach is dpoing well now but the asthma feeling comes and goes still... it helps to inhale in a paperbag... if you have a vaporizer it helpd a lot too if now what you can do is boil water put it in a basin and put some vapor rub and inhale the vapor.. clears your lungs nicely
