Yes, it does help most people tremendously. I dropped 20 lbs and started exercising and eating the right foods and and my reflux pretty much went away. BUT...every time it did I went back to my old lifestyle and now damage is done to my esophagus and I take meds and try to live a healthy lifestyle. Don't wait. It will be a change in lifestyle, NOT a diet.

Re: Does weight gain increase acid reflux

Yes weight can be a contributing factor because most that are over weight are eating in a manner their body can not handle.

Look into a diet change, excercise, and your medication until you are at a healthy BMI then seeif you can do without meds.

Sincerely,
MG

I am down over 45 pounds with 11 pounds to go. I have seen an improvement in my reflux.

Re: Does weight gain increase acid reflux

My acid reflux didn't show up until after I was on a strict diet and lost 33 pounds! Since this all started I have had to switch my diet to alot of carby stuff... bread, crackers, oatmeal.. stuff to try to calm the acid reflux and gained my weight back!
