i have acid reflux my mom has acid reflu is it genetic. for the past 2 weeks now, my son has been coughing like crazy and gagging but only at night when its time for him to go to bed was just wondering if thats acid reflux to. i get only when i eat i get very bad pain in my stomache and then running to the bathroom because everything i eat comes right back up. but with my son he complaining about his tummy and coughing and gagging only at night is it acid reflux or just a flu at night so confused. gonna call his doctor in the morning and im gonna ask them but just need opionions from people tonight. and i already made his appointment for this thursday but might take him in a bit sooner. thank yous in advance.

My youngest, now 16, had reflux as a baby.......terrible...when he started eating solid foods, baby foods, it got so much better. Now he has to take Prilosec every other day........or he gets acid reflux and indegestion...husband has it also, and my oldest has it, he's 21...I don't.........so yes it is genetic i believe...my husband's mom has it.

My husband Gerd, me LPR, son 4 yrs old reflux.. Takes a previcid chewable at night. His reflux is predominantly allergy and sleep apnea triggered. Now he is on a CPAP and his sleep apnea is under control his acid reflux has become almost non-existant. Yes, like allergies, sleep apnea, and much more it is believed there is a genetic predisposition for Acid Reflux diseases.

Does your son snore? How does he sleep? I ask because my son has had sleep apnea since birth and extreme sleep deprivation as a result of poor sleep caused many problems for his health.
