| Re: acid reflux in newborn Anyone ever had this happen with infant. Is this common? Want to hear from anyone who has gone through this....he is otherwise healthy. Is this inherited??
1) Yes. My son and niece.
2) It is becoming more common, because we can test for it aand diagnose it earlier.
3) Yes. Genetic linkages have been identified.. In my sons case he can blame my husband and I equally.
Factors that trigger acid reflux in infants. Sinus issues and enlarged adnoids and tonsils. Is the child teething perhaps? This can aggrevate matters as well. My son cut his first teeth at 2 months.
Also if the infant snores, immediately consult with a pediactric sleep specialist. Snoring is not natural and should not occur in children under the age of eight. If it does they have (OSA), obstructive sleep apnea. There is a strong link to SIDS and childrens OSA. OSA is also linked to acid reflux..
I speak from experience.. my four year old, my husband and I all have OSA. It is genetic as well. I will be testing any future children for it at six months of age.. and taking them to an ENT then as well.
Best of luck.. and hope this helps.
